Lap of Legends

Lap of Legends was a film that brought technology and racing together for the Michelob F1 team. Logan Sargeant raced against legendary Michelob drivers in an AI-driven environment, in real life.

I was the Art Director for this massive project. FCB already had a design language in place, but it was our job to extend it and make it feel bigger. As the design department of the Mill, we had to elevate the language and tie it together across the entire film - from archival footage to real-time race graphics to the title sequence - making everything feel cohesive and cinematic.

For the title sequence, I started by roughly laying out the story. Roger Hom helped me turn those ideas into boards and take the concept even further. On the surface, it’s about racing with legends… but really, it’s about racing with yourself. We wanted to give it a subtle, deeper meaning, because that’s important to us.

Craig Stouffer then started designing incredible style frames around those key moments. Eventually, I had the pleasure of working with my dear Turkish friends Mert Kizilay and Mehmet Kizilay. They brought an amazing team with them — Ugur Baltepe, Mert Ercin, Enes Ozenbas, Ethem Cem, and Duygu Turkmen — and together we pushed the look to something beyond amazing.

I couldn’t be prouder of this work.

But this project was more than just a title sequence. We created all kinds of graphics you can imagine: visuals explaining the helmet technology, graphics breaking down the rules, layouts that incorporated old photos and archival footage, and live graphics for the race itself. So much went into this film; every piece had to feel like part of the same world, working together to tell the story.
